Edinburgh, Scotland

I’ve been to a fair share of European cities. Edinburgh, is by far, my favorite. Florence you’re in a very close second, but still second.

It’s hard for me to describe why I like Edinburgh so much. The one word that first comes to mind is magical, but it’s so much more than that. It’s an old city full of gorgeous buildings that range from medieval and Gothic to Victorian and modern. There’s hills, gardens, and rocky outcroppings that hold castles atop them.

And then there is the city’s obsession, like mine, with Harry Potter. J.K. Rowling wrote the novels in the city and was supposedly inspired by many of her surroundings for the HP world. Because of this HP is everywhere and I loved it.

I stayed in the Grassmarket with the most amazing view of Edinburgh Castle from my hostel window. I stayed at Kick Ass Hostels and would highly recommend them if you’re looking for cheap and convenient accommodations, the hostel is well maintained and was within walking distance of most everywhere I wanted to go in the city.

  1. I share your appreciation of Edinburgh and your lovely pictures brought back fond memories of renting a house there a few years ago. ❤️
